About Us

Hello readers, my name is Hannah Fraser. I am an aspiring dental hygienist in her last year of dental hygiene school. I graduated from Arnprior District High School in 2019, and started the Dental Hygiene program at Algonquin College the fall of that same year. I enjoy relaxing with family and friends, spending time outdoors and caring for my animals during my spare time. My goals after this program are to continue my education, perhaps to transition to university education this time to receive a Bachelor of Dental Hygiene. One of the subjects of dental hygiene that I wish to continue learning about is the science of the oral-systemic health link. I hope this blog page inspires its readers to share the same passion as our writers!

My name is Erin Tredenick and I am a student in my third year of dental hygiene. I became interested in dental hygiene after I had gotten my braces removed back in 2012. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and playing video games. While in school for the first two years, I quickly became aware of how linked oral and systemic health are and how important it is. I hope our blog is able to teach you a few new things you may have not realized within your oral and systemic health.

Hello! My name is Jessie Beckwith and I am a dental hygiene student studying at Algonquin College. I have lived in Ottawa my whole life and my family is the most important thing to me. My favourite thing to do in the world is to get outside and enjoy nature, whether it be going on a camping trip or just reading outside. My goals for when I am done school and working as an RDH are to give back to my community as much as possible through volunteering and missions work.

My name is Emily Sampson, and I am a third-year dental hygiene student. I have been a registered dental assistant for ten years. I am married and have a 7-year-old son. I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I have realized how important the link between our oral health and systemic health is throughout my dental hygiene program. I hope that this blog site allows you to see the importance as well.

Hi! My name is Merilee and I am a dental hygiene student at Algonquin College. For the past 8 years I have been a registered dental assistant, and for 7 of those years I have been a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. In 2019 my family and I were posted from Halifax to  Ottawa so that I could pursue my dental hygiene diploma. When I am not at school, you can find me at a rink watching my children play hockey. Oral health is something that is very important to me, and I believe that the link between oral health and systemic health is very important for everyone to understand. I hope that our blog leaves you more informed on how strong the link is between the two.
